Coronet Hat and ZenPhoto

Filed under: Knitting, Tech — Annie @ 5:48 pm

I’ve only just rediscovered knitting. You see, I learned how in college but I never did much with it or moved beyond the most basic knitting and purling on straight needles. But now, inspired by the large community of knitters over at LibriVox, I’ve started again and I’m addicted.

My first project after taking up knitting again: the Coronet hat - designed by Alexandra Virgiel and found on knitty.com. I used Lion Brand Wool Ease yarn (80% acrylic, 20% wool) for this in “Delft Blue”.

Coronet Hat - It Fits

It’s not perfect but I learned a lot making it. This was the first time I did a provisional cast on, knit in the round, knit on DPNs, did cabling, and did decreases. I did make a hat in my previous knitting lifetime but I made it by doing a long rectangle with triangles on top and the sewing it all together if that makes any sense. It worked surprisingly well but it was a very chunky yarn which hid a lot I’m sure. In any case, it’s my first real hat and it fits! What more can a gal ask for?

On a side note, I downloaded ZenPhoto for my pictures and I’m happy with it. I was hoping to use this nifty plugin called ZenPress but I can’t seem to get it to work. I’m almost positive I did everything right, I activated the plugin with no problems but now the little icon that is supposed to appear to let me conveniently insert a thumbnail that links to the large picture just isn’t there. I tried clearing my cache and still nothing. The plugin was designed for an earlier version of ZenPhoto and I’m wondering if that, and/or the new version of WordPress is making the plugin not work. Hmm. I’ll play with it more later but for now it’s not so bad copying and pasting the URLs of the thumbnails and full sized pictures.

So how do y’all like my new header? I took out the daisies since they aren’t really my style and found an old pic I took of a yellow rose. Spent some time fiddling around in PhotoShop to get the color to blend as smoothly as possible and voila!

I’ve been pretty happy with ZenPhoto..man I should update my photo album too. No experience with ZenPress though.

That rose looks great with the blue, the colors compliment eachother well.

  4. Hi Annie. I’m new. My name is Bill.

I love your website, and your audiobooks, and your hat even. If that’s you under the hat, I love your glasses too.
