Chunky Blanket Progress

I think that’s what I’m going to call it. This is what I did last night:

Chunky Blanket - one evening's knitting

And a close up look at the thick and thin yarn that makes the texture so chunky:

Chunky Blanket - close up on the thick and thin yarn

Today I went back to Kirkwood Knittery and got two skeins each of four more colors since I’d like to make a nice big blanket and wanted to get what they had left. So it’ll be ten colors in total. I’ve gotten a lot more done today so more pics coming soon.

  1. Wow, those are some nice bright colors. The awesome thing about the thick and thin is that you don’t really have to worry about gauge!

  2. That looks great. I love how the colours all fit together. What a wonderful texture too.

  3. Thank you both. It is a great yarn for my first big log cabin blanket because if it looks uneven I can blame it on the yarn. ;)

  4. Wow, I really love the colors of the yarn and the yarn itself. I was wondering, what brand of yarn is it, and what type? Do you mind telling me?

  5. Of course I don’t mind! It is Malabrigo Super Bulky yarn, 100% wool. It is very soft and very bulky. I used both Gruesa and Aquarella colors. Here is a link: http://www.malabrigoyarn.com/yarn.html if you want more info on the yarn.
