Anne of Green Gables and Life in General
Well, it only took me two years but I have finished recording Anne of Green Gables! It’s a bit embarrassing that it took me so long but I’ve had a busy two years with meeting Stephen, finishing my master’s degree, battling Meniere’s Disease, getting engaged and married, and buying a house. I feel somehow like I became an adult in the last two years if that makes sense.
Anyhow, I’ve podcasted chapters 36 and 37 and 38 will be up tomorrow. I thought about spacing them out a bit more but figured I’ve made folks wait long enough! Cataloging at LibriVox is in the works and a complete Zip file of all chapters will be available soon.
So as for what is next with the podcast, I’d like to get a good chunk more recording done before I start releasing more chapters. Once I’m confident I can release on a regular basis, the podcast will start up again. I’ll continue with the next Anne book by L. M. Montgomery - Anne of Avonlea. I’ve also begun recording a duet with Kara of Emma by Jane Austen. We will trade off chapters and I will likely podcast that at some point as well.
Life in general has settled in which is really nice. My health is the best it has been in years. I found out that I had a bad Vitamin D deficiency which was likely causing a lot of my fatigue and weak immune system and once I had supplements for that I started to bounce back. Our new house is beautiful and I’m really enjoying the yard and learning how to do some gardening. One of my favorite things about the house is this beauty who came with it:
Her name is Tasha and she is a Keeshond - a lovely arctic breed that I hadn’t heard of before. We bought the house from a nice gentleman named Bill and it turned out he can’t have dogs in his new apartment. We had been planning on getting a dog as soon as we had a house and fell in love with Tasha when we first saw the house. We wrote in the contract that if Bill couldn’t keep Tasha that we’d love to take care of her. We were half joking but when it turned out that he couldn’t keep her, everything fell into place. She is the sweetest, most loving dog I’ve ever known and I think we are good for each other. We get out and walk every morning and she is constant company and entertainment.
I haven’t been knitting a whole lot lately with the wedding, move, and summer heat but I think I’ll have more time now to devote to knitting and knit-blogging both. So stay tuned and thanks for your patience to my podcast listeners!

Hi! I just discovered your podcast, and I downloaded it all! Anne of Green Gables is one of my favourite books, and I had been searching for audiobooks for ages!
I was wondering whether you would like to read also Emily of New Moon, but I guess that it wouldn’t be the best thing for the podcast to record two books of the same author one after the other.

I found out that you have completed all 38 chapters of “Anne of Green Gables” and was very delighted.
I plan to burn your recordingson to a CD and give it to my friend.
Well, when will you catalog this book on Librivox? I am waiting for this book to be cataloged soon.

Been listening to your readings of Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea and now Anne of the Island. Grew up on the Anne books and love them still. Named my daughter after Anne, with an “e” of course. Really enjoy your readings and the inflections you use. You have a real feel for the characters.

Congratulations for your marriage and completing Anne of green gables!
I am learning English for several years. When I found Librivox, I just thought I found a great site for leaning English listening. But soon after finding your recording, I come to ENJOY listening. I like your readings and the inflections you use. As Mrs. Susan said, I also think you have a real feel for the characters.
I like knitting and crocheting, so I am looking forward to see your new works.

Hi Annie, I was so happy when I read that you would continue recording Anne books. You did such a wonderful job of Anne of Green Gables. You even brought a tear to my eye when Matthew dies and when Anne and Gilbert finally got together. I Live in PEI and just this week took my sister-in law to see the Avonlea Village and the Green Gables house…I had so much fun…We played tourists and enjoyed every moment. My SIL and BIL have just moved here from British Columbia and bought a house that is white and green and looks alot like Anne’s Green Gables!
Thanks you again for a wonderful podcast! I just today found your website and enjoyed seeing you after listening to you read to me all summer! Congradulations on your wedding, new house and beautiful dog!

Hello, I’ve just finished listening to your Anne of Green Gables, and I’m just transformed. I somehow missed this book as a child, so now 50 years later, I’m glad I waited, in order to hear you read it to me! I have to say your voice and readings have become all the characters so clearly; I’ve gone to the Canadian website for Anne and filled in the images of the actual place with the book’s descriptions, it is quite lovely. I was led to the book by the blog, Celtic Memory Yarns, she just recently paid a visit to PEI from Ireland. It’s all quite lovely, and thank you so much for your work.

Hi, Annie: I have not yet been diagnosed - will be pursuing that very soon - but have all the classic symptoms of MD. Have been reading/researching and found your site. God Bless You! So happy that you have some happiness in your life. I know getting rid of stress is so very important for EVERY aspect of good health. Thanks for putting so much effort into sharing, uplifting, and being a good example. I have probably had MD for years, but blessed with otherwise excellent health, was only mildly effected. Have had tinnnitus for many years along with mild fluctuating ear pressure and hearing problems. Had my first “dizzy spell” a year and a half ago followed with mildly off balance spells. Had a very severe bout of rotational vertigo (now know what my dizziness is called) this morning. Terrible nausea. Slept most of he day and have been researching ever since. I know I can’t diagnose myself, but the more I read - the more I feel the connection (I was hoping what I learned would disprove my fears not prove them). You and the friends who have submitted comments have been an inspiration! Life is a test. It isn’t about the cards we’ve been dealt, it is how you play your hand. My Church believes that we counseled with our Father in heaven before we came here about the tests we would need to polish and perfect us. We probably didn’t understand how hard it would be, but we agreed to what we would go through in this life. I’m going to be 70 years old next spring, I have been through many things and watched others go through trails. I can attest that if we have the humility and faith and ask: “What am I supposed to learn?” rather than “Why me?” we can live a worthy life in spite of all the hardships and heartaches we (agreed to) have. It’s OK to be angry. Get it out of your system, then pick yourself up, dust yourself of and get right back on that old bucking horse. (you might be able to guess, I was an old bronc rider.)

I loved your recordings of Anne of Green Gables. I just finished listening to the last chapter and wanted to thank you for the recordings. You (and Anne!) kept me company for many miles of many walks and time on the tread mill. Thanks so much for reading such a lovely book and for doing it so well.

Hi Annie,I have been meaning to write for some time and say how much I enjoyed Anne of Green Gables and how pleased I was to hear that things are good for you. Your voice was just right for the characters. I’m English so am not too good on North American accents, but I recommended it to a student of mine (I am a school librarian) who is Canadian born and he is a big fan!
