Evidence of Spring

We've had the strangest week of weather with an inch or two of slushy messy snow on Monday and then yesterday (Thursday) it was in the 70s.  Despite the snow, spring is nearly here!  Evidence of spring; exhibit #1: The cherry trees are getting ready to blossom.

We've built two covers to keep the critters out of the garden beds.

More are in the works.  Evidence of spring, exhibit #2: Seeds planted directly outside have sprouted.  Behold, spinach:

All of the seeds started indoors are doing well and the cool weather plants will go outside this weekend.  I also plan on directly planting carrots and more lettuce outside this weekend.  Lettuce plants:

It may not be official for a couple of days more but the proof is all around, spring is here.
