Summer to Autumn

All of a sudden, it is autumn.  Last week was hot.  As in, record setting high temperatures HOT.  On Wednesday, a brief playtime in the back yard with Tasha had us all sweaty curls and mosquito bites.

I was just out watering and this little beauty stopped in to visit:

Spring is Here

Flowering Cherry Tree

Evidence of Spring

We've had the strangest week of weather with an inch or two of slushy messy snow on Monday and then yesterday (Thursday) it was in the 70s.  Despite the snow, spring is nearly here!  Evidence of spring; exhibit #1: The cherry trees are getting ready to blossom.

This past weekend I decided it didn't make sense to have a trellis in the strawberry bed and I'd rather have it one of the other beds so I pulled it out and it has a new home alongside its newly built twin.

No Mistakes In It Yet

"Marilla, isn't it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?"
~ Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery

I thought of this passage in one of my all time favorite books as I did some serious garden reconfiguration this past week.  We spent some money and a whole lot of time but these are one time costs and labors and I think it will pay off in years to come.  Behold, my new layout with raised beds and no mistakes in it yet.

Abracadabra

Four days after I tucked some round black specks into peat pots, tiny green folded sprouts of broccoli rose up to reach for the sun.
